Module 4: Your Indicators

Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I.
But when the trees bow their heads
We know the wind is passing by.

(Written by the poet Christina Georgina Rossetti)

Overview

  • Consider your Evaluation questions, and audiences, so that you can develop and choose indicators that best address the questions you have.
  • Create locally relevant indicators for your program objectives (what does your objective- or change you are aiming for- look like in your setting?)
    • Consider existing international SRHR indicators.
  • Decide which indicators will be numerical and which will be non-numerical.
  • Choose at least one indicator for each objective.
  • Make sure the indicators you select, adapt or create are valid (relevant to the program’s local context), reliable (understood the same way by different people), and feasible (relatively easy and affordable to measure).
  • Understand what a Logical Framework (Log Frame) is, and start to use it.
